Gong camp address is:
Coombe Farm, Cove, Tiverton Devon EX16 7QJ.
Coombe Farm directions:
By car: From M5 motorway, junction 27, take the A361 towards Tiverton (7miles). At the roundabout, take the third exit A396 towards Bampton. Turn right at Cove (signed village hall/Huntsham). Go up the hill to the crossroads (Van Post) at the top (1.5 miles). Turn left (towards Bampton) and the track down to Coombe Farm is the first entrance on the left (0.3 miles). If you follow the directions above you will get to Coombe Farm in 15 minutes from junction 27 of the M5.
Important: Most Satellite Navigation systems will get you to within about a third of a mile of the farm track before throwing you off route! To avoid this, ignore the turning off instruction when you reach the Van Post crossroads and continue on (towards Bampton) and Coombe Farm is the next turning on the left.
For help with getting to Coombe Farm should you get lost you can call 07807892118 and Julie will help lead you in.
Arrival time:
Gong camp starts at 2.00pm on Friday the 8th of July, 2016.
Finishing time:
Gong camp will draw to a close at 3.00pm on Sunday 10th July, 2016.
For those arriving by public transport:
Please let me know as soon as possible the time of your arrival at the station so that I can arrange transport if you need to be picked up. This is particularly pertinent if you arrive before 2.00pm.
For those arriving by own transport:
Parking is at the bottom and to the sides of the steep concrete track. Park at right angles to the track, leaving plenty of space between each car. Please do not obstruct the turning circle. The camping field is a car free zone. It has level camping terraces and access to them is by foot.
At camp:
Please sign in on arrival at the camp. I need to know who is at camp for health and safety purposes. If for any reason you need to leave camp during the weekend (I don’t encourage this) please let me know of your intentions and I can sign you out.
- There will be a designated smoking area with an ash bucket for butts. I request that you do not smoke in your tents nor in the camp area. Coombe farm is being developed as a reserve for nature I ask that you respect it as such and set an intention to leave the camp in the same condition as it is found.
No ticket is issued for camp, there is no need to bring receipts or other paper work to sign in on the 8th, I will have a list of names to tick off as people arrive.
- Gong camp will be very relaxed. Please feel free to help yourself to tea, coffee, and snacks, which will be provided. However, you will be responsible for serving yourself.
There is no set time for ‘lights out’ but I do ask that you respect the need for quiet as others settle for the night.
Meals are served at a set time (but this can be flexible) it is your responsibility to ensure you are present during their serving. Be aware that I cannot reserve hot meals for you.
Meal times:
Friday evening meal 6.00pm
Saturday breakfast 8.00am
Saturday lunch 1.00pm
Saturday evening meal 6.00pm
Sunday breakfast 8.30am
Sunday lunch 1.00pm
Phone numbers:
- As Coombe Farm is in a valley most mobile phones will not pick up a signal. In the case of an emergency family members/friends can contact you on:
01884 251646 and 07807892118
A message will get to you within a hours. We ask that these numbers be used in a genuine emergency only as a friend who lives ten miles away from camp will take these calls and has undertaken to drive immediately to camp to deliver the message.
Things to bring:
Gong camp is a weekend retreat held in the countryside. I am supplying most things so that you do not have to bring very much with you.
You are welcome to bring your own drum or gong but this is not necessary.
If you own a native American flute please bring it as we will be having a flute workshop on the Sunday morning.
Below is a list of essential things that you would need:-
Change of clothes.
Soap, flannel, towel, toothbrush etc.
Tent, sleeping bag, pillow.
Boots, waterproofs.
And a torch.

A few spare tents will be on camp for those who are unable to bring a tent.
Coombe Farm is not a flat ground camp site, so a hill climb is necessary when packing up. Wheel barrows are available to help you transport your belongings to and from the camping area. Reasonable assistance will be available where time and opportunity permits. It is advisable therefore to keep your brought belongings to a minimum.
