We are delighted to be hosting Gong master, musician and sound healer Sheila Whittaker at the Well Garden

To celebrate the Autumn equinox. Sheila is running a one day Introductory Gong workshop on Sat 19th Sept followed by an all-night Gong Puja ceremony leading us into Sunday morning! More well-known are the summer and winter solstices, but the twice yearly equinox symbolizes light and dark coming into balance as the seasons pass. The workshop is open to all who are drawn to the magnificent Gong: players looking to refresh their techniques; those interested in becoming a Gong practitioner or purchasing a Gong for personal spiritual practice. Maybe you've been attending Gong baths and want to know more about the history and benefits of this powerful instrument…or you'd simply like to spend a whole day and night in the healing vibration of the Gong space (who wouldn't)! About Sheila Whittaker: Sheila is one of the main course tutors for the College of Sound Healing and runs the year-long Gong Practitioner Training for the College, plus other Gong and Sound Healing workshops. She has written two books about Gong playing and healing - Sound Healing with Gongs, and In the Heart of the Gong Space - which are available from her website www.healing-sound.co.uk and Amazon. Based in Devon, this may be the only opportunity to catch her teaching in London this year. About the Introductory Gong workshop: The day provides an introduction to the use of Gongs for Sound Healing. This is a mixed-ability workshop and the day will be structured to suit the group. No previous experience of the Gong is required to attend – complete beginners are very welcome. We will briefly cover the history and current-day work with the Gong in Sound Healing and therapy situations, and learn basic techniques for approaching and playing the Gongs. There will be plenty of hands-on opportunity for participants to practice and connect with this powerful healing instrument. About the all-night Gong Puja: The ceremony is open to those who have attended the introductory workshop beforehand. Participants bring their bedding and sleep in the Gong Puja space while the Gongs are played throughout the night, everyone taking a turn. This is a very profound and sacred healing experience, co-created by everyone taking part, and is also a great opportunity for novice Gong players to participate in a Gong event and meet more experienced members of the Gong community.
